Louis Owens

Louis Owens is a British (3/4 English, 1/4 Scottish) football scholar who plays as a goalkeeper for the University of Science and Arts Oklahoma (USAO). He previously attended Louisiana State University Shreveport (LSUS) for three semesters.

More information on USAO can be found at their website: http://www.usaoathletics.com/sport/0/5

Louis previously played for Forest Green Rovers Academy where he completed his scholarship in 2020. With no professional contract on the table, Louis set his sights on gaining a scholarship to a US university. Before moving to the US, Louis also briefly played for his local team, Whitchurch United (https://www.whitchurchunitedfc.co.uk/), in the Autumn of 2020.

Louis played for Swindon Town’s academy team from 2013 before joining Forest Green in 2018.

Louis has a wealth of experience playing against the best players in Europe in his age group. He has played against Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal, Den Haag, Feyenoord and many others.

One of the biggest games Louis played in was against Middlesbrough u18s in the third round of the 2019/2020 FA Youth Cup at the Riverside Stadium. Forest Green were unlucky to lose out on penalties after a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes – Middlesbrough’s goal coming from a lucky deflection that Louis could do nothing about.

Away from football, Louis is a keen musician – he can play guitar, bass, keyboards and can sing. He has played small open mic evenings as well as occasionally deputising in bands where he has performed to up to 500 people.

Louis is very keen to expand his horizons with his scholarship at USAO. He is very committed to furthering his education overseas where he can continue to play football at a high level while experiencing a new culture and environment.
